Handmade from solid teak root, these wonderful large wooden bowls are truly unique with no two ever the same. The Java teak root bowls are solid, beautiful and full of character. The perfect item as a centre piece for a coffee or dining table. Handmade from solid teak, the Java Teak range of furniture and accessories originate from the Indonesian island of Java. All the pieces in this range are fairly traded. The teak wood is hand carved and sanded to a smooth waxed finish. The teak root furniture is made from the root of teak trees, a by-product that would normally go to waste. Each piece is lovingly hand-crafted to create these unique, wonderful items. Due to the nature of the teak root, the shape and appearance of each one will vary greatly so the pictures are examples but the one you receive will be completely unique, with no two pieces looking the same. These beautiful teak roots, that were previously left in the ground, are now being excavated and reclaimed into these wonderful handcrafted products allowing the re-planting of young teak trees for future generations. As every piece is unique, each one will vary slightly in shape, size and shading. A truly lovely teak bowl and would make a statement whatever it is used for. Perfect as a practical fruit bowl, or simply as a beautiful feature on its own.

All our products are made of FLEGT-licensed teak/wood from Indonesia. The legality of the teak/wood in our products is assured through Indonesia’s national timber legality assurance system (SVLK) and FLEGT licensing scheme. FLEGT-licensed timber is considered to fully comply with the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR). EUTR 995/2010 prohibit illegally harvested timber and timber-based products from being placed onto European markets.
